Intro to 3D Art
In this course, students will be gradually transitioning from two to three- dimensional art. Lessons will cover both creating the optical illusion through drawing and the actual use of form and space.
Students will learn about various topics in three-dimensional design, exploring the principles of visual perception and the meaning of form, space, function, mass, and structure. Varied materials will be incorporated to develop the students’ ability to work with these concepts, such as clay, wires, cardboard, paper, and some pretty unusual materials from everyday life.
Some things to do before the first class:
Purchase the required materials below. Although you are paying a fee for the supplies, the list below will be for your individual use only. All the rest will be provided (a portfolio made by Ms. Frank, a mini sketchbook for weekly home sketching, paint, special papers, paintbrushes, pastels, scissors, watercolors, glue, fine line pens, various substrates, etc.)
I attached some links to give you an idea of what some of these materials look like. Feel free to use what you already have, to add what you don't own yet, and to buy them somewhere else if you would prefer.
Students will occasionally need to be able to print out images at home. Please let Mrs. Frank know if this is going to be a problem for your family.
Please bring to the first day of class: Some of your own drawings
