English I Honors
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
English 1 Honors is designed for 9th grade students who are new to CEDAR or for those who want to strengthen language arts skills that are essential for future academic success. This course provides a supportive environment where students build confidence, develop their voice, and grow as readers and writers.
Each week, students engage in reading, vocabulary, grammar, and writing activities that work together to reinforce key skills. At-home learning is interactive and adaptive, offering immediate feedback and guidance so students can ask questions, receive support, and move forward without feeling stuck. This structure helps students stay encouraged and make steady progress both in and out of class.
English 1 Honors emphasizes effort, growth, and thoughtful engagement. Students are encouraged to take risks, think honestly, share ideas respectfully, and view mistakes as part of the learning process. In class, students apply what they have learned through discussion, collaboration, and active participation.
Expect to be supported, expect to improve, and expect to grow into a stronger, more confident student by the end of the year.
