Drawing
“Drawing is the root of everything.” Vincent Van Gogh
This course is designed to educate students, from beginners to advanced, who have interest in increasing their drawing skills.
Students will be exposed to a basic understanding of drawing as the foundation to visual arts. They will learn to analyze and critique original works of art by several artists.
The lessons are planned to promote not only drawing skills, but the decision-making process and critical skills they will utilize to interpret the world around them through their own eyes with paper and pencil.
A variety of mediums will be used, such as pencils, markers, colored pencils, charcoal, ink, paints, etc. Students will also explore different substrates like a variety of different papers, fabric, cardboard, glass and everyday objects.
Some things to do before the first class:
Purchase the required materials below. Although you are paying a fee for the supplies, the list below will be for your individual use only. All the rest will be provided (a portfolio made by Ms. Frank, a mini sketchbook for weekly home sketching, paint, special papers, paintbrushes, pastels, scissors, watercolors, glue, fine line pens, various substrates, etc.)
I attached some links to give you an idea of what some of these materials look like. Feel free to use what you already have, to add what you don't own yet, and to buy them somewhere else if you would prefer.
Students will occasionally need to be able to print out images at home. Please let Mrs. Frank know if this is going to be a problem for your family.
Please bring to the first day of class: Some of your own drawings
