Art Appreciation and The Creative Processes: A Hands-On Approach
In this course, students will be introduced to about 15 masterpieces, each from a different historical great. Together, we will be decoding the artist's choices, both in studying how they manipulate light, space, and perspective, and in understanding their large compositional shapes, color palettes, style, and techniques.
Learning by “imitation” is mostly how we learn. The great masters, through art history, were also influenced and found inspiration by studying the artwork of those who came before them.
The ultimate goal is for the student to work on creating their own original artwork inspired by these pieces.
